Springtime in Bellevue, Washington is officially in bloom

There are wildflowers to explore and evergreen forests to bathe in. Nestled between the foothills of the majestic The North Cascades NPMt Rainier NP & Olympic NP, Bellevue is your basecamp and playground for exciting culinary experiences while exploring the natural splendor of spring. Carve out some time this spring to take a weekend getaway to one of the best places in North America for dining, outdoor adventure, and rejuvenating experiences.

Nature & Wildlife Adventure Weekends

Bellevue is lucky to be around some of the most beautiful natural resources in the United States. Immerse yourself in the lush forests and gardens brought to us by the wet winter weather. In the spring, it's still a little bit rainy, so be sure to pack your waterproof hats, shoes, and jackets while fully unplugging in the wonders of nature.

Cougar Mountain Zoo

Cougar Mountain Zoo is the perfect excursion from Bellevue to meet and learn about endangered species and conservation. Located in neighboring Issaquah, come face to face with tigers, lemurs, reindeers, mule deers, and cougars with a Close Encounters reservation, where you'll join the zoo keepers for behind-the-scenes experiences.

You can also book Guided Tours at the zoo as you go from habitat to habitat for educational, fun-filled experiences. The 1-hour tour session includes free zoo admission for the day and a visit into the Tiger Tunnel.

Afterwards, head towards Gilman Village to experience one of the most charming shopping, dining, and coffee spaces. In 1972, Marvin and Ruth Mohl started saving unwanted buildings from the old farming and mining town of Issaquah to create this quaint haven for independent shops and restaurants.

Flowers & Forest Bathing

Head to the Bellevue Botanical Gardens to enjoy spring activities. On Saturdays and Sundays from April through October, join the 1-hour guided tour of the garden, which meets at the Shorts House at noon.

Check the events calendar for special flower and plant sales. The Puget Sound Dahlia Association hosts a Tuber Sale with exhibition-quality dahlia tubers that is open to the public in March. The NW North American Rock Garden Society hosts a spring plant sale in April.

Experience the Early Spring Garden with Forest Bathing on March 29 to welcome the transition from winter to spring. Enjoy mindful meditation and Shinrin-yoku while strolling through the gardens down to the forested sanctuary of the Ravine Experience.

Wine & Dine Weekends This Spring

For the foodie in you, Bellevue is home to a diverse, multicultural culinary landscape with over 400 multicultural restaurants. Pair with adventures in Woodinville Wine Country just 20 minutes outside of our city. Enjoy sipping and savoring all weekend long this spring, as you enjoy the fresh local fare and the beautiful surroundings.

Woodinville Wine Country

Washington is the second largest wine producer in the country, so start planning your day trip out towards Woodinville Wine Country, just 12 miles outside of Bellevue with over 120 wineries to taste from.

Chateau Ste. Michelle is a must - the picturesque historic chateau features award-winning wines at Washington's oldest and most acclaimed winery. To taste the flavors of the Spring Season with ingredients harvested from the Pacific Northwest, book yourself a Seasonal Food & Wine Pairing experience.

DeLille Cellars is hosting a Black Glass Challenge all throughout March, where you can test your taste buds through a blind tasting that will heighten your sense of smell and taste. The winery is regarded as a top American producer of Bordeaux-style blends with over three decades of excellence in winemaking.

Enjoy one of the best ambiances in Woodinville at Willows Lodge, where the Fireside Lounge provides local wines, spirits, craft brews, and upscale comfort food to sip and unwind. Be sure to check their Live Entertainment schedule when planning your trip to enjoy the musical stylings of local talent.

BELLEVUE WINE PASSPORTS ARE THE PERFECT WAY TO ENJOY OUR WINE EXPERIENCES.

Spring Cuisines

Washington State is full of abundance in seafood and farm fresh ingredients. Savor the global flavors of Bellevue with our Restaurants Page, where you can enjoy everything from Edomae style omakase sushi and delectable local seafood to elaborate steakhouses and gastronomic Indian fare.

At The Lakehouse, experience a Northwest farmhouse concept inspired by Bellevue's sense of place and evolution. Enjoy locally sourced ingredients and fresh, market-driven craft cooking from James Beard Award-winning Chef Jason Wilson.

Start with the crab bisque at Seastar Restaurant & Raw Bar, where you can't go wrong with the fish entrees like the king salmon or mahi mahi. Enjoy a platter of just shucked Washington oysters while you're at it.

Enjoy the decor at Cantina Monarca, where the wood is brought in from Tulum and the food is an exploration of modern Mexican cuisine. Savor the lump crab enchiladas and steaks with corn tortillas alongside a margarita flight.

Spring Sports & Relaxing Spa Weekends

As winter ends and spring begins, you can catch the end of the snow sports season while lake and water sport season begins. With plenty of spa and wellness activities around town, enjoy rejuvenating experiences after adventurous days outside.

Water & Snow Excursions

Want to catch the tail end of the snow sport season? Grab your Spring Multi-Pack at the Summit at Snoqualmie and plan for good snow, good vibes, and more sunshine. At Crystal Mountain Resort, experience the Apres Live Series every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday for live music in the base area lodge before hitting the slopes for night skiing this March. In April, plan around their Mountain Music Series happening Saturday afternoons.

For adventures on the water, head to Meydenbauer Bay Park to launch your kayaks and canoes. REI Co-op operates paddleboarding, kayak and canoe rentals at the Meydenbauer Bay Boathouse for the Spring/Summer season.

Whale Watching

Go whale watching in the Puget Sound, where you'll be able to spot gray whales this spring as they head north for the summer. From Bellevue, head out to a whale watching tour on the  Puget Sound Express, which has been operating for 34 years. The company guarantees that you will see a whale on your tour, and if you don’t, it comps another trip. San Juan Safaris offers packages and experiences to view orcas, seals, sea lions, eagles, and more

Saunas & Spas

After a weekend of fun-filled outdoor adventure, experience the Von Sauna, a floating sauna in Kirkland, just a town north of Bellevue. Connect with nature as you experience a deep, healing heat over Lake Washington's waters to feel refreshed and energized.

In the bustling downtown Bellevue, head over to Yuan Spa to relax and revive your muscles in the ancient healing practice of hydrotherapy. The co-ed facility features meditative rituals with heat, water, and steam. There's a hot pool, cool pool, cold rinse, steam room, and dry cedar sauna.

Ready for more pampering? Book yourself a facial, massage, and/or manipedi at Recoop Spa, a one stop shop for self care that is sure to leave you feeling "recoop-erated" and well taken care of.
