With the Puget Sound at our doorstep, Bellevue is plugged into the Seattle seafood supply chain with daily access to fresh fish from the Pacific Northwest, imports from Japan, and some of the best distributors in the country. Between that access and the level of talent in Bellevue's kitchens, the sushi scene delivers serious quality.

Whether you're after a quick lunchtime roll, a high-end omakase experience, or a casual night out with friends, Bellevue's sushi scene is packed with options. Here's where to get your sushi fix in 2025.

Takai by Kashiba

Chef Jun Takai recently received a nod from the James Beard Foundation, recognized for his excellence in sushi craft behind the omakase bar at Takai by Kashiba. The 23-course omakase is a masterpiece and a show in itself, and you can savor Chef Jun's technique in aging fish. At lunchtime, the restaurant offers a premium sashimi and negitoro bento box for takeaway in a sustainable bamboo box. It makes for a very nice picnic at Bellevue Downtown Park.

Ascend Prime Steak & Sushi

Want sushi from the sea, but in the sky? Ascend Prime Steak & Sushi has your back on the 31st floor of The Bellevue Collection, offering sushi and other accoutrements with a luxurious twist. For appetizers, demolish your cravings with o-toro tataki, wagyu beef tartare, or caviar service paired with some oyster shooters. Then, enjoy a selection of premium rolls, nigiri, and sashimi, or opt for the omakase options. Make sure you make your reservations - the window seating reservations will guarantee a jaw-dropping view.

Ramen Nori

Ramen Nori brings a lot of fun to modern Japanese dining, with pesto in their tonkotsu and a fun selection of temaki, or hand rolls, with a generous helping of toro, wagyu beef, scallop truffle, and so much more. They've got the classic rolls, the veggie rolls, the fried rolls, and special rolls. There's even a wagyu seafood bowl, complete with seared wagyu beef, toro, scallop, sea urchin, salmon, ikura, and egg yolk over sushi rice. Yum. And they have tableside honeycombs for your sake!

Minamoto Japanese Cuisine

Minamoto's Japanese Cuisine offers a 15 to 18 course omakase, alongside a selection of teishoku (Japanese meal sets), and luxurious Japanese dishes a la carte. The presentation is stunning. There's wagyu sukiyaki for a comforting dish with premium ingredients. Try the uni and fois gras toast and pair with a the fresh slices of fish in the sushi moriwase. At lunch, you can get anything from katsu don and uni don to chirashi and curry rice.

I Love Sushi

I Love Sushi is the Bellevue's first sushi-focused restaurant, started by Yoshi Yokoyama in 1981. Today, Yokoyama's restaurant sits on a small lake, Lake Bellevue, that plays an ecological role as part of Bellevue's broader watershed. I Love Sushi offers the best fish from local and Japanese fish markets for omakase, as well as sukiyaki, sashimi, tempura, chirashi, etc. You can even do a tuna tasting, featuring otoro, chutoro, akami, negitoro, and seared otoro.

Japonessa Sushi Cocina

At Japonessa, you get a fusion of Japanese and Mexican flavors with a variety of omakase and a la carte options. There are a lot of fun rolls to try, like the "Tres Diablos," which has spicy tuna, salmon, yellowtail, and strawberry habanero sauce, or "Street Fighter II," which has snow crab and seven spiced tuna. There's also a belly sampler with salmon, yellowtail, albacore and bluefin tuna to banter over. The lunchtime bento box is a pretty big portion, and the happy hour has some great deals.

Wild Wasabi Signature

Wild Wasabi Signature brings hibachi theater and a variety of different ways to have dinner. You can enjoy the drama of teppanyaki grilling with a six course or eight course meal, including options for wagyu beef A5 and seafood. Get your surf and your turf. Okay, the sushi menu is expansive too, with a whole section dedicated to gunkan, which is a type of sushi that looks like a battleship with a small oval of rice wrapped with a strip of nori as the vessel, and the cup filled with items like salmon roe, sea urchin, spicy creamy scallop, crab salad, and the list goes on. There are signature rolls, maki, and wild rolls, which gets a little steamy with the "Kiss Kiss" roll and its fresh seared sea scallop and creamy jalapeno.

Ginza Japanese Restaurant

Ginza is a cozy and neighborly spot tucked away in Old Bellevue, known for its traditional approach and warm hospitality. It's no-fuss sushi covers all the classics - fresh nigiri, hearty udon, and fun bento boxes. The chicken Kara-age is seasoned and deep fried to perfection, and you can even get pumpkin fried rice served in an actual hollowed out pumpkin.

THEKOI Sushi & Sake

Voted Best of the South Sound for the last five consecutive years in Tacoma, THEKOI Sushi & Sake plants its stake in downtown Bellevue. This is the neighborhood sushi joint, with a menu that's got "Dynamite" rock shrimp in creamy spicy sauce, takoyaki, yellowtail carpaccio, and a big selection of specialty rolls. There are three omakase sashimi platter options, along with a wide variety of nigrii and sashimi options. You can find amaebi and escolar on the menu, as well as the local harvest of geoduck. There are also a wonderful selection of entrees and bento boxes to choose from.

Kuro Sushi

Tucked away in a little collection of Asian food in Bellevue's Eastgate, Kuro Sushi offers an array of omakase, signature rolls, donburi, and yakisoba. There's also a salmon sampler and a bluefin sampler for the curious eater. The vegetarian options are clearly marked on the menu, and there's a whole section of the menu dedicated to veggie rolls that have just as much crunch, sauce, and texture as the special rolls.

Kura Revolving Sushi Bar

Not to be confused with Kuro, Kura is a conveyor sushi spot from Japan - complete with robot servers. As the sushi gets made in the back, customers throughout the restaurant are grabbing plates of sushi as they pass by their tables. And for every five plates you finish, you activate an animation from the game above your table. It's the perfect spot for playful and casual outings with families and sushi lovers of all ages.

Bellevue's sushi scene is full of fresh fare. Whether you're a purist, a wasabi daredevil, or just here for the vibes, Bellevue's sushi spots are here to impress. Forks down, chopsticks up.
