-Access Points: Red Town Trailhead parking area of Cougar Mountain Park, at the junction of Lakemont Boulevard and Newcastle-Coal Creek Road.
This park consists of three moderate-levels trails, encompassing approximately 3.7 miles. Consisting of dirt and woodchip surfaces, these trails venture through a preserved suburban creek valley featuring dense forests and waterfalls. The park is a glimpse of the region’s past with evidence of the early coal mining industry along the trail and kiosks with information on the remaining artifacts. Additionally, the east end of the trail enters into Cougar Mountain Regional Park, where more trails await.
