Presented by Doug Tallamy. This lecture draws on the many questions Doug receives about ecological landscaping and provides clear, inspiring answers grounded in decades of research. Doug will offer a thoughtful exploration of ecology and evolution, biodiversity and conservation, and the role of keystone, native, and non-native plants. He will address topics ranging from insect declines to urban habitats to the wildlife in our own backyards. He will also discuss Homegrown National Park®, which he co-founded with Michelle Alfandari. Learn more at homegrownnationalpark.org . Lecture at 7:00pm. In person attendees can arrive at 6:15pm for refreshments. This lecture will be offered in person and online. $14 BBGS members/$20 nonmembers. Doug is a professor in the Department of Entomology and Wildlife Ecology at the University of Delaware, where he has authored ninety-seven research publications and has taught insect-related courses for forty years. A central focus of his research is understanding the many ways insects interact with plants and how these interactions shape the diversity of animal communities. He is the author of Bringing Nature Home, Nature’s Best Hope, and The Nature of Oaks, and co-founder of Homegrown National Park.
