The summer sun is here, the days are longer, and Seafair Weekend is celebrating its 76th Anniversary. All the ingredients for an endless summer are in place, and this multi-weekend festival is the summer activity you won't want to miss. US Navy jets will take off from Boeing Field for one of the most highly anticipated moments of the summer. There are hydroplane races, a Log Boom event, Parachuters, fireworks, and all sorts of boating, jetskiing, and water-based activities throughout Lake Washington and beyond.

When is Seafair Festival?

The Seafair Festival runs from June to August, culminating in Seafair Weekend from August 1 to 3 on Genessee Park and Lake Washington. 

  • July 31: Fleet Week on the Seattle Waterfront, with a Parade of Ships through Elliot Bay
  • August 1 - 3: Seafair Weekend Festival, Boeing Seafair Airshow, Apollo Mechanical Cup Hydroplane Races

🥁 Kickoff: Torchlight Parade & Run

📅 Saturday, July 26
📍 Seattle Waterfront
⏰ Torchlight Run at 6:00 PM | Parade at 7:30 PM

The celebration begins with the Kaiser Permanente Torchlight Run, followed by the legendary Alaska Airlines Seafair Torchlight Parade. This year, the illuminated procession returns to Seattle’s waterfront with vibrant floats, cultural performances, and the beloved Seafair Pirates.

The parade is free to attend, but if you want a guaranteed view, you can reserve seats in the Orange, Red, or Green zones ($50–$80) or choose ADA-accessible seating for $70. Grandstand seating opens at 5:30 PM.

⚓ Fleet Week: Ships, Demos & Dockside Access

📅 Tuesday, July 29 – Sunday, August 3
📍 Elliott Bay, Pier 62, Pier 46

Fleet Week returns with the Parade of Ships through Elliott Bay at 1:00 PM on July 29, followed by a live U.S. Coast Guard search-and-rescue demo at 12:45 PM at Pier 62.

From July 31 to August 3, head to Pier 46 for open ship tours, military exhibits, and static displays daily from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. You’ll see helicopters, maritime tech, Coast Guard teams, and Navy personnel on hand for questions.

⚠️ Bring a REAL ID and wear closed-toe shoes for ship tours. Large bags, strollers, and drones are not allowed.


 

✈️ Seafair Weekend Festival + Boeing Air Show

📅 Friday, August 1 – Sunday, August 3
📍 Genesee Park & Lake Washington Boulevard
⏰ 8:30 AM – 6:00 PM daily

This is Seafair’s main event: a jam-packed weekend of water, sky, and adrenaline. The Seafair Weekend Festival features live music, food trucks, beer gardens, interactive zones, and epic views of the hydroplane races and Boeing Seafair Air Show.

✈️ Air Show Highlights:

  • Blue Angels return for daily performances (~3:35 PM)

  • U.S. military flyovers and demos (F-35B, F-16, Apache helicopters, C-17, KC-135)

  • Aerobatic stunts from Torrey Ward & Melissa Burns

  • Vintage aircraft: PBY-5A Catalina and P-40 Kittyhawk

  • U.S. Coast Guard rescue simulation

  • The Apollo Mechanical Cup runs all weekend

  • Friday: qualifying heats

  • Saturday & Sunday: race rounds, finals, and awards

🛫 Jet Blast Bash at The Museum of Flight

📍 The Museum of Flight, Boeing Field
⏰ 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Want the best view of the Blue Angels taking off and landing? Head to Jet Blast Bash—Seafair’s official air show party hosted at the Museum of Flight. This outdoor festival offers prime front-row access to Boeing Field’s flight line, where jets roar past just overhead.

Included with regular museum admission, Jet Blast Bash mixes aviation action with family fun, food, music, and science.

🎯 What to Expect:

  • Up-close views of Blue Angels takeoffs, landings, and other Seafair air show aircraft

  • Food trucks and a 21+ beer garden

  • Live music by local bands and DJs (past acts include Brickhouse and Mr. Pink)

  • STEM booths and hands-on activities for kids, including math exhibits from SUMM
