Where to Celebrate Holi, the Colors Festival

As winter transitions into spring, Bellevue is alive with many different Holi celebrations to choose from.

What is HOLI?

Holi is a popular Hindu festival marking the arrival of spring and the victory of good over evil. It's a time for people to come together and celebrate with vibrant colors, music, and dance. The most iconic part of Holi is the playful throwing of colored powder and water, which symbolizes the spirit of unity and the shedding of inhibitions. It's a day where everyone is equal, and the air is filled with laughter and camaraderie.

What to Expect & How to Prepare

  • Wear White – The best way to experience Holi is to wear white clothing so that the bright colors stand out beautifully. Be sure to wear something you don’t mind getting covered in powdered dye!
  • Protect Your Eyes & Hair – While Holi colors are usually safe and made from natural ingredients, it’s a good idea to wear sunglasses and tie your hair back. Some attendees use coconut oil or leave-in conditioner to protect their hair and skin from color stains.
  • Bring Your Energy! – Holi is all about movement, music, and celebration. Expect to dance to upbeat Indian and fusion music, try delicious Indian snacks like samosas and jalebi, and immerse yourself in a lively, carefree atmosphere.
  • Respect the Traditions – Holi is a festival of love, inclusion, and respect. Always ask before applying color to someone, and embrace the spirit of unity and celebration.

Holi is more than just a festival—it’s an experience that brings people together across cultures. Whether you're a resident or visiting Bellevue, participating in Holi offers a chance to engage with the city’s vibrant South Asian community, make new friends, and create unforgettable memories.

So, get ready to dance, laugh, and celebrate spring in the most colorful way possible! Stay tuned for event details, and make sure to add a Bellevue Holi celebration to your spring bucket list.
