Bellevue is committed to fostering a vibrant and diverse event culture, making it the perfect place for budding conventions and festivals to grow and thrive. The Visit Bellevue Festival & Events Incubator Program is designed to provide funding, support, and resources to help new and evolving events flourish in this dynamic city.
About the Program
The Bellevue Festival & Events Incubator Program, in partnership with the Bellevue Tourism Promotion Area, Bellevue’s Lodging & Hospitality Industry, and the City of Bellevue, offers financial support and services to attract and nurture festivals and events. The goal is to enhance the quality of life for both visitors and residents while promoting Bellevue as a premier destination.
Funding Levels and Priorities
The program prioritizes events that can drive tourism, especially those that span multiple days, attract out-of-state visitors, and take place during Bellevue’s need months (January-April, November, December). Events focused on technology, wellness, culinary experiences, multicultural themes, and creative economies are given special consideration. Funding levels range from $7,500 to $50,000, depending on the event's potential to generate overnight stays in Bellevue hotels.
Success Stories
Several notable events have benefited from the Incubator Program, including:
- The Northwest Chocolate Festival: This two-day event has become one of the top chocolate showcases in North America, attracting thousands of chocolate lovers and industry professionals.
- BrickCon: As the longest-running Lego fan exhibition in the world, BrickCon draws enthusiasts from around the globe to celebrate creativity and innovation through Lego building.
- Wintergrass Music Festival: A beloved bluegrass and acoustic music festival, Wintergrass honors cultural traditions through music, creating a unique and immersive experience for attendees.
Application Process
The application process is straightforward, with submissions accepted on an ongoing basis. Decisions are made quarterly, with applicants receiving feedback within 90-120 days. Successful events receive not only financial support but also expert guidance and resources to ensure long-term success and sustainability.
